I was an intern at the Community Advocate, a weekly newspaper in Central Massachusetts, during summer 2025. How Grafton’s ‘Bread Guy’ turned a pandemic hobby into a community favorite bakery

For a business feature about a local bakery, I visited the shop one morning and interviewed the owner, spoke to regular customers and learned about the partnership with the district’s post-graduation program which helps 18- to 22-year-old students with special needs develop life skills via on-the-job training. I got a behind-the-scenes look at the kitchen and photographed workers making the bread and working behind the counter. I took vertical video footage for social media reels/Tik Tok too, as seen below.
‘It is in our blood’: Berberian’s celebrates a century of family-owned farming

To celebrate the 100-year anniversary of a local family farm, I took a trip to the farm to interview the co-owners. While learning about the farm’s history and impact on the town, I took photo and video content to complement my reporting. A few days later, I returned to look at some old photos from the farm’s beginnings to create a Then and Now graphic for the story.

Trinity Church names new settled pastor

For this story, my reporting took me to church on Sunday morning to cover the formal installation service of a pastor. Following the service, I interviewed the pastor, church leaders and parishioners who spoke about what the service meant to them. After listening to the speeches, they had a luncheon celebration, where I got witness the camaraderie the church brought together.
