Hi! I’m Sara- a spring 2026 graduate at the University of Connecticut with a dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in journalism and political science with minors in environmental studies and English. My passion lies in reporting the news, educating communities and telling people’s stories that otherwise would go untold through multiple modes of storytelling.
My bylines can be found in The Washington Post, Associated Press, Hartford Courant, CT Mirror, Worcester Telegram and Gazette, Worcester Business Journal, Valley Breeze, The Day, CT Examiner, Community Advocate, among others.
I began as a full-time town reporter at The Day in New London, Conn., the last independently owned Connecticut daily newspaper, in July where I am covering the towns of Putnam, Killingly and Plainfield along the Route 395 corridor in Eastern Connecticut.
I spent my last semester at UConn serving as a legislative reporting intern at the CT Mirror, where I reported on the 2026 Connecticut legislative session in Hartford, focusing on housing, transportation and education policies, speaking to legislators, attending public hearings, press conferences and session days to turn around both daily and enterprise work.
My Summer 2025 was spent in two local newsrooms— the Valley Breeze in Northern Rhode Island and Community Advocate in Central Massachusetts, covering businesses, schools and town events through both written work and social media content. Learning the coverage area in two different states at the same time was not an easy feat, but was an incredibly rewarding experience.
In addition to state government and local news reporting, I have experience in business journalism, completing an editorial internship at the Worcester Business Journal during summer 2024, where I covered manufacturing, real estate, higher education and businesses in the Greater Worcester area. I have actively freelanced for the journal since then, such as helping out with profile features and other enterprise work.
Throughout my four years at UConn, I was involved in the Daily Campus, UConn’s independent, student-run newspaper, where I served as editor- in-chief of the paper during my junior year, managing the print and digital daily production and overseeing a staff of 150 students.
I also served as president of UConn’s student chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, where I vastly expanded the chapter and organized nearly 15 networking and professional development events for students.
When I am not writing, you can find me practicing yoga, reading or watching Gilmore Girls for the 10th time.
